Springville coach Sam Smith recaps the Red Devils winning a fifth consecutive Class 5A girls title with a 78-83 victory against Timpanogos at the Utah High School Activities Association state cross country championship meet at the Regional Athletic Complex in Salt Lake City. Smith became the first coach in state history to guide a program to five straight 5A girls championships, with the Red Devils earning their sixth overall. Smith was already the first coach in the state to win titles in 2019 at Sugarhouse Park, in 2020 at Soldier Hollow and at the Regional Athletic Complex with last year's 44-87 victory against Orem.
